We strive to make the Smoky Hill Museeum accessible and welcoming to every guest.

Limited Mobility Accessibility

Most public areas in the Smoky Hill Museum are accessible for visitors with limited mobility. 

  •  Accessible parking is available east of the alley in the 200 block of Iron Avenue on the south side of the street.
  • A ramp is available at the front of the museum beginning on the east corner of the building behind the sculpture of the colorful hippopotamus.
  • A push-button door opener is on the front door.
  • A standard manual wheelchair is available for visitors free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The Museum restrooms each have a wheelchair-accessible stall.

  • The hands-on exhibit area has a second floor which is accessible via a lift. Please pick up the key for that lift at the front desk.
  • An elevator is available in the west lobby for access to the second floor of the Museum building where the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society, Arts and Humanities offices and public meeting rooms are located.
